Stettler Community Gardens officially opened at its first location in May 2010, with 5000 square feet. In 2011 and 2012, the site was expanded by approximately 8000 square feet, working around existing shrubbery and low areas. The original fence corners were expanded to create a continuous fence along the west side of the gardens. In 2011, raised beds were added, and in 2012, low, tiered raised beds containing edible and floral plants were placed on the eastern edge of the expansion. Perennial vines and fruit bushes were planted along the borders and an additional water tank was added.
In 2013, to accommodate increased demand for garden space, funding was obtained to build a second community garden site. This raised garden site consists of approximately 6500 square feet of garden space, plus additional beds containing fruiting shrubs along the grassed berm edges.
