Volunteer Recognition Drive-Thru Event

Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Location: 5005-47 Street

This has been quite a year! Volunteering did not stop just because events, both large and small, were cancelled. People found new ways to help their fellow community members and volunteer organizations. Attending volunteer board meetings took place virtually (and maybe in our pajamas), but we still did it! The number of volunteers allowed in one place at one time was limited, but we wore masks and continued to do the tasks at hand.

There are so many volunteer stories from this past year to tell!

Tell us about someone you know who deserves recognition.
Tell us what you did on a volunteer basis to help out a neighbor or organization.

Follow this link https://stettlerconnects.com/volunteer/volunteer-recognition and fill out the Volunteer Recognition form on our Stettler Connects website to be registered for our National Volunteer Week celebration on Friday, April 23.

If you are an organization with a number of volunteers, you may send us an email with the names of those who will be taking part in our celebration event. Here is the email address: stettlerconnects2021@gmail.com

Volunteers who have registered or have been nominated using the Stettler Connects Volunteer Recognition form (or by their volunteer organization) will be invited to a 'drive-thru' event on Friday, April 23 from 1-3 pm, where they will receive a small token of appreciation. Address to 'drive-thru' is 5005-47 Street, Stettler Information and Referral Centre and Stettler Volunteer Centre office location.

Registration deadline is April 15, 2021. Registration is necessary for planning purposes.

Personal information collected will only be used for the purpose of 2021 National Volunteer Week celebrations.

Funding for National Volunteer Week is provided by the Government of Alberta and distributed by Volunteer Alberta.

Stettler Hospice Society's Hike for Hospice

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This spring people across Canada will gather pledges and then hike to raise public awareness for hospice care. This major fundraising initiative will help advance the hospice care initiative in our local community.

Hospice care provides physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical support to people facing end of life, their loved ones and the bereaved. 80% of Canadians say they want quality hospice care at the end of life yet less than 15% have access to it.

Hospice care is currently underfunded and under-recognized.

Individuals and teams welcome! Form a team and hike with friends, family or coworkers. Simply designate a team captain, choose a team name and have a ton of fun together! Teams can consist of a mix of runners and hikers.

All funds raised will go directly to support the Stettler Hospice Society.

Registration - 10 AM

Hike Starts at 11 AM

1KM or 3KM hike

or a scenic 5KM hike/run

Family fun entertainment will get you going including a warm-up before the hike. Please join us for a free barbeque and refreshments for participants after the hike.

Register online at www.stettlerhospice.org or pick up registration forms at CAMIS Stettler. Fore more information, please contact admin@stettlerhospice.org or follow us on Facebook at Stettler Hospice Society.
