Intermunicipal Development Plan

Town of Stettler and County of Stettler Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP)

The Town of Stettler and County of Stettler are updating our Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP). An IDP established the framework for growth and development for lands withing the Plan area. An IDP also outlines how municipalities will collaborate and cooperate as these developments are brought forward. Both the Town of Stettler and County of Stettler municipal councils must approve the new IDP before the Plan will guide growth and development.

Bylaw 1749-25 (County) and Bylaw 2194-25 (Town) propose to adopt an updated Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP). The proposed plan is available for you to review:

County of Stettler Municipal Development Plan Amendment

The proposed IDP is based on the confined feeding operation exclusion area that was in the 2009 IDP being moved into the County of Stettler Municipal Development Plan. This means the area where new or expanded confined feeding operations that were not allowed will be addressed in the MDP rather the IDP. The area used in the 2009 IDP is also proposed to expand by 4 quarter sections. Bylaw 1750-25 is available for you to review:
